Campers are divided into four groups:

·        Red  (ages 5-7)

·        Yellow (ages 8-9)

·        Green (ages 10-11)

·        Blue (ages 12-15)

Each group is color-coded and each camper is given a color-coded tag with their group’s daily schedule printed on it. Counselors are assigned to supervise each group for the day and the same counselors supervised the same groups for the entire summer. This arrangement fostered strong counselor / camper and counselor / parent relationships. Counselors and/or directors carry 2-way radios to insure a constant means of communication anywhere on the river, in the building, across the street at the field or on the waterfront.

Lunch time breaks the schedule from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, but then it resumes until free-choice (2:30pm) allowing all campers to experience each of the four main activities. Free-choice from 2:30pm – 4:00pm offers the campers an opportunity to pick which of the activities they liked the best, meet up with friends or siblings from other groups and socialize / interact with each other as staff loosens the structure while maintaining strong supervision. A loud speaker, amplifier, and microphone help with rounding up campers at closing time or if they were being picked up at any point during the day. Parents are very appreciative of the structured schedule and the staff’s ability to not only locate any camper at any point during the day, but then summon them immediately by either using the 2-way radios or the P.A. system.
